Culture Night 2025 at Kunstverein Aughrim

An Assembly of Forms - Behind the Zines is an event that celebrates the continually evolving artwork Granite Leap; Kunstverein Aughrim’s inaugural permanent site-specific artistic commission. The work was conceived, designed and installed by the collaborative art practice Forerunner. It constitutes the physical space of Kunstverein Aughrim, and continues to support and inform the artistic programme.
Over the course of this relaxed two-hour evening event, Forerunner will demo and assemble the newest element of Granite Leap, a modular seating system that can transform into a display unit, temporary upright walls, and horizontal storage solution. During the demo we will reflect on the development and realisation of the wider work – from the collaborative sourcing of the rock, to how the structure was designed and built, to Forerunner’s future vision for circular windows cut into the side of the building!
Together we will dive into past zines that document the development process, improvise a new zine in the form of a DIY manual, and imagine future zines, thinking about Kunstverein Aughrim's geolocation on the great Leinster granite batholith, and our wider relationship to the community of whom we are a part.
Join us for this informal evening celebrating Forerunner’s foundational work. No booking necessary, everyone is welcome.

Parking
There is limited on street parking in the village with one accessible parking spot outside Day Break, across the road from Kunstverein Aughrim.
Building Access
Kunstverein Aughrim is not step free, it has five steps at the entrance, with no handrails. Kunstverein Aughrim is located in the centre of the village, with busy roads either side. The footpaths are wide and uneven. There is a curb 40 meters from the entrance.
Kunstverein Aughrim has one inaccessible bathroom.
