Book your place to attend via Eventbrite. Capacity is limited so early booking is recommended.
The Spring Preview is designed to share insights into the thinking and processes behind Farrington’s sculptural artistic practice. The event begins at the threshold of Kunstverein Aughrim, where we will introduce some of the ideas Farrington is planning to explore with her current project DIAGONAL ACTS, and visit her exhibition of new sculptural work inside the space.
Material interventions presented as part of DIAGONAL ACTS arise from research into geological and archaeological imaginations of gaps, openings and thresholds, exploring the boundaries of the body in the landscape from various counter-topographical perspectives. The project expands on and elaborates a hybrid practice of ‘Theatre/Archaeology’ (Shanks/Pearson, 2001) exploring symmetries between staged presentations and field work via their continual renegotiation of categorical boundaries and their shared interest in memory, partiality, fragment, trace and assemblage.
Following a brief introduction to the project we’ll walk together from the Monument via the Library, over the Tinakilly bridge up to the local Allotments, sharing ideas and artefacts along the way, including a series of newly commissioned technical drawings by Róisín O Meadhra, a text responding to Farrington’s work by Isabel Nolan, and a newly commissioned hand tool by Liliane Puthod.
