WHAT WE DO

Kunstverein Aughrim is a curatorial production office for contemporary art projects, located on the ground floor of a townhouse in the village of Aughrim, County Wicklow.

We accompany artistic practice in a curatorial capacity by developing ongoing collaborations with artists. We work with three artists annually across multiple projects and activities. We support the artistic process of creating new work by underwriting the development of new methodologies and by bringing audiences as close to the creative process as possible. Kunstverein Aughrim acts as a commissioning, development and production agency for new artistic productions, supporting, mentoring, promoting and representing the artists with whom we work, seeking to develop opportunities for patronage, collaboration and engagement from an early phase of the creative process, right into the presentation stage.

Through practice we have come to recognise that in order for the visual arts to evolve, artists and institutions need more Creative Producers and Independent Curators to support artists and bridge gaps between practice and presentation, in synergy with existing frameworks and infrastructure.

In May 2025 Kunstverein Projects CLG was incorporated as a non-profit art organisation, with the aim of using the methodology established by Kunstverein Aughrim as a basis upon which to establish a new network of Creative Producers

Governed by a Board of Directors, Kunstverein Projects CLG is committed to supporting the development of artistic practice and the role of creative producers in the visual arts in Ireland. Guided by a belief in the necessity of art, we see every stage of the production process as a chance to test the parameters of artistic practice. Similarly we see every moment of encounter as a space to enact the transformative potential of art. Our vision is that Ireland's capacity to produce new work in the visual arts meets and elevates the exceptional potential of the artists that live and work here.

Kunstverein Aughrim is supported by The Arts Council / An Chomhairle Ealaíon and Wicklow County Council.
