This Open Call was aimed at Independent Creative Producers and Freelance Curators working in the Visual Arts in Ireland. Kunstverein Projects CLG sought applications from individuals interested in participating in Kunstverein’s new Creative Producer Programme - a training and development initiative supported by the Arts Council through the Creative Production Supports scheme.

Commencing in September 2025, the 18-month programme consists of:

Training Days
These are ten day-long sessions hosted by our partner organisations, incorporating tailored workshops and expert-led talks designed to facilitate in-depth training and knowledge-transfer in the skills required to produce contemporary visual art. Our partners include; EVA International, Fire Station Artists’ Studios, Galway Arts Centre, Ireland at Venice, Mermaid Arts Centre, National Sculpture Factory, Ormston House, Regional Cultural Centre, Sirius Arts Centre, The Dock, The Douglas Hyde Gallery of Contemporary Art, and VISUAL.

Development Days
These are designed to support peer learning and to generate ongoing feedback and evaluation that will shape the programme as it evolves. Development Days take place over one day at Kunstverein Aughrim (September 2025), three days at Cow House Studios (April 2026), and one day at The Courthouse Arts Centre, Tinahely (November 2026).

International Collaboration
Working closely with collaborators from de Appel Amsterdam and Page Not Found, The Hague, this ongoing exchange will be supported by a five to ten-day trip to the Netherlands during de Appel Curatorial Programme’s Lumbung Harvest Festival in June 2026.

Practice-based Placement
Participants will dedicate a period of time to a specific project, either in partnership with an existing exemplary commissioning body, or on a self-directed curatorial production project.

Publication
The programme will be documented and evaluated through ongoing critical reflection and analysis. This material, alongside specially commissioned texts and content from our training workshops, will be collated to form the basis for a Creative Producer Handbook, to be published in the final months of the programme.

Applications were invited from individual practitioners working in the visual arts, who are interested in becoming part of Kunstverein’s producer network, and who wish to develop their own curatorial framework akin to that of Kunstverein Aughrim.

Participants of the programme receive ongoing curatorial guidance and support, access to training and development, and a bursary of €12,000 as part of their participation. Throughout the course of the 18-month programme, from September 2025 to March 2027, participants are expected to attend ten training days and five development days, to travel for a five to ten-day international trip, and to undertake a practice-based placement of variable duration.

For more information please see the Guidelines.

The deadline for applications to the Creative Producer Programme has now passed. Applications were made by completing and returning the Application Form by 5pm on Monday 30th June 2025. Alternative modes of application (such as audio or video submissions) were also accepted. Applications are assessed by an international jury. Shortlisted applicants are notified by email in mid July. Interviews are to be held on Thursday 24 and Friday 25 July (with online and in- person options).

An online information clinic was held on Thursday 12 June 2025 at 12pm by Kunstverein Projects team Kate Strain and Michelle Darmody. The session was free to attend and took place via Zoom. A subtitled video recording is available to watch via YouTube. The transcript is available to download as a Word Doc.

For all and any questions please contact office@kunstverein.ie or call 089 9418765 within office hours.
